Nominations are now open for the Icelandic Innovation Award 2026. The award is presented to a company judged to have excelled in developing a new product or service, built on research and innovation, that has achieved notable market success.

The purpose of the award is to highlight the important link between research and knowledge creation and increased value generation in business.

Anyone can submit a nomination by completing the nomination form on the Rannís website. Nominators must provide the company name and briefly explain why they believe it deserves the award. Once the nomination period closes, the award jury will assess all nominations and may request further information from nominated companies as appropriate. The jury comprises representatives from the award's organising partners: the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO), the Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannís), Business Iceland, and the Kría Innovation Fund, as well as representatives from the past three years' award recipients.

The deadline for nominations is 1 September.

The winner of the Icelandic Innovation Award will be announced at the Icelandic Innovation Conference, to be held at Gróska on 29 October.

In selecting the Icelandic Innovation Company of the Year, the jury considers whether the company is a new start-up, whether it is built on innovative technology and ideas, and whether it is knowledge-intensive. The jury also assesses the added value of its products and whether the company has achieved market success. Further considerations include the company's long-term viability, whether its approach to managing innovation is worthy of emulation, and whether it serves as an inspiration for others to follow a similar path.
