Sagareg Wins Gulleggið 2025

On Friday, February 14, the final competition of Gulleggið 2025, the country’s largest startup competition, took place in Gróska. Innovative business ideas captivated both the live audience and viewers tuning in via visir.is. The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO) is a proud partner of Gulleggið, and Borghildur Erlingsdóttir, Director General, served on the judging panel.

Winners of Gulleggið 2025

1st place – Sagareg

The winning team was announced by Logi Einarsson, Minister of Culture, Innovation, and Higher Education.

Sagareg simplifies the preparation of dossier applications for pharmaceutical market authorization using artificial intelligence and specialized software. The solution automates text writing, table creation, and quality control, ensuring faster and more reliable applications to health authorities.

2nd place – Hvað nú? (What Now?)

What Now? provides a comprehensive service for bereaved individuals, simplifying the administrative process following the loss of a loved one. The service supports grieving individuals during a difficult time, increases efficiency, and helps them reintegrate into society more quickly. The name refers to the common question that arises in such situations: “What now?”

3rd place – Samvís

Samvís is developing a new generation of search engines for researchers and students, utilizing artificial intelligence technology. The solution improves access to research and bridges the gap between science and society.

Samvís was also selected as the university team that will represent Iceland in Athens at an international startup competition, courtesy of JA Iceland and its sponsors.

2025 Honorary Award – Meniga

Meniga received Gulleggið 2025’s Honorary Award for its outstanding contribution to Icelandic entrepreneurship. The company participated in Gulleggið in 2009, making it to the top 10 but not securing a prize. Since then, they have achieved significant success and established themselves as a leading company in their field.
