Do you know of an inspiring inventors that you think will change the world? Then you should nominate them for the European Inventor Award. Do they hold a European patent? Then you should nominate them for the European Inventor Award 2024. Nominations can be submitted until October 1 here.
The European Innovation Award has been awarded by the European Patent Office (EPO) since 2006 and is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of innovation in Europe. Prizes are awarded in five categories: research, SMEs, non-EPO countries, lifetime achievement and young inventors.
The goal of the award is to honor individuals and teams who have found solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time. An independent jury, made up of previous award finalists, selects the inventors and teams that make it to the finals and then the award winners from the finalists. The jury evaluates the inventions and their impact with regard to technological progress, the development of society and sustainability and prosperity. All nominated inventors must have received a patent in Europe for their invention.
Þorsteinn Loftsson and Einar Stefánsson, the founders of Oculis, were among the three research teams nominated for an award in the research 2023 category for technology that enables the development of medicine in the form of eye drops that can be transported to the back of the eye.
