Registration certificates and other documents from the Intellectual Property Office now available on Ísland.is

The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO) is making good progress on its digital journey and today a trademark registration certificate was sent to a digital mailbox at Ísland.is for the first time. For the time being, confirmations of receipt of applications, registration certificates, renewal certificates and certified copies will be sent to the mailbox. In the coming weeks, ISIPO's customers will receive most formal documents and letters from the Office in their digital mailboxes, i.e. regarding design protection and patents. Around the end of the year, it is expected that all letters from the ISIPO to customers regarding intellectual property rights will be available through Ísland.is.
The digital mailbox is a closed area on Island.is. It publishes and stores specific personal information and messages from the government to individuals and companies. All individuals and companies with an Icelandic ID number (including system ID) have their own mailbox.
Under the three-year plan and the Digital Post Office Block Act, all public sector bodies are obliged to provide digital publications by 1 January 2025. The Act establishes the government's view that the main channel of communication with natural and legal persons will be digital and centralized in one place, via a digital mailbox on Ísland.is.
More information about the digital mailbox on Ísland.is can be found here.
