Record number of national trademark applications

The Icelandic Intellectual Property Office (ISIPO) received 116 trademark applications from domestic applicants in October, the highest number of domestic applications it has received in a single month since the year 2000.

In the first ten months of the year, ISIPO received 731 applications from Icelandic applicants, compared with 684 in the same period last year. This is an increase of around 7% and continues the trend of recent years. In 2024 as a whole, 776 Icelandic trademark applications were filed, and in 2025 the figure was 809, an increase of 4% on the previous year. Of the nearly 67,000 trademarks registered in Iceland, around 7,500 are now owned by Icelandic applicants.
