A Successful Event on Sport Tech at Iceland Innovation Week

Game Changers (5)

04. May 2026Events

Icelandic sport tech innovation took centre stage at the Game Changers event in Austurbær on Thursday, 30 April, as part of Iceland Innovation Week. The event brought together a diverse group of sport tech companies to present their products, services, and approaches to intellectual property protection. It was very interesting to hear how active this sector is in Iceland. The event will hopefully spark further dialogue and collaboration among companies in the field, and draw greater attention to the sector going forward.

The event was hosted by the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office in collaboration with Reykjavík University and Össur, as part of Iceland Innovation Week and in celebration of World IP Day (#WorldIPDay).

Photographer Elísabet Blöndal was there to capture the atmosphere.

Borghildur Erlingsdóttir, Director General of the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office, opened the event and spoke on the importance of IP protection for innovative companies.

Aron Albertsson, Product Lead Designer at Össur, discussed the development of the Cheetah running blade, recognisable by its yellow stripe, and the company's collaboration with athletes with disabilities.
